First to hear about the latest product launches. I would like to receive promotional communications — based on my preferences and behavior — about Philips products, services, events and promotions. I can easily unsubscribe at any time! What does this mean? Discover MyPhilips. I will compile it for you and post it. But I need your help. If you could leave common knowledge, hints about the player ie, the stop button trick, menu button trick , what it does and doesnt play, hints on getting a successful Divx playing, where to get firmware, tech support numbers, etc.
Hopefully this will be the reference to end all searching! This is a greeat idea if those who have information are willing to join. I personally have been looking fo the firmware update but unfortunately, the Philips link is no longer available. Anyone willing to point me in the right direction or even e-mail me the file would be grteatly appreciated. I'm also looking for the firmware, seems to have been taken off the phillips site. If someone can send it to me i'd be greatful. Thanks in advance.
Please pm me if your can send me the latest firmware. Also, how to find your current firmware. Open your disc tray and wait 30 seconds, then press 5,6,9,ok. That will show you a screen with your firmware, plus allow you to change your model number. DO NOT change this, your video output will become scrambled and you may not be able to see well enough to correct it.
As someone else has already written on another thread. I also found out that after finding thsi firmware page, my video output changed from Y,P,Br to S-Video making all my video output to varying shades of blue. Great this thread is going in the exact direction it needs to. If you hit eject, unplug the machine, or God forbid the power goes out while you are updating, you will ruin the machine.
So let it go until it finishes. When it finishes, it will power itself off standby. Hit the eject button and remove the CD. Unplug the machine and wait for 10 seconds or so.
Then plug the machine back in, and it should be updated. You will have to reapply the region hack after updating if that is important for you.
Personally, I don't think you need to update because you probably have something quite similar to the and your problems are probably caused by limitations in the ESS chipset in the DVP such as not handling QPEL. First, the DVP does not handle rewritable discs very well. What inprovements do you get from updating the firmware. Is there any way to make the player read more then 8 characters.
I really don't think the dvd player has any problems playing any format. I pretty much bought it because of how well the drive supports dvd writable media.
If the dye is bad, alot of things are going to to have issues reading it. Then I added another film later. When I tried to play it, the player would only recognize the last film and not the original 3. I upgraded tonight thinking it would solve my problem with subtitles but it still did not help me. Using the disc menu, it shows the movie file and the subtitle file but when I play the divx film, the subtitles do not show up.
I have no idea what i am doing wrong. Loading up the movie it says "loading I turned off closed caption, when i push the subtitle button i just get the hand icon. I just dont feel like wasting a dvd on such a small file and I dont have any cdrs handy. I wouldn't I'm not familiar with the firmware updating process on the probably should see what version I have , but I imagine that every time you insert the disc with the firmware update why not use a blank CD?
A DVD for just a firmware upgrade seems like a bit of a waste. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
Its jsut that I dont have any spare CDrs with me and I dont want to buy a bunch just for that reason. I dont mind combining different videos. If it does, however, you can always still add whatever files you want to fill up a data disc I just can't make any guarantees the will play them. Hello, I don't know if I'm at the right place or not.
