You inserting same objects separate but not a block. Comment by Figueras,Richard. My empirical investigations show that the inserttion point is not really random - it is at the bottom left limits of the group of selected objects. Comment by Demer,Mac. I use copybase all the time to get stuff from drawing to drawing, but this is a neat trick to make blocks real fast. Showing of 9. Tip Other than making the drawing read-only, is there a way to protect it from being overwritten?
You can ask your IT guy to set different permissions for your shared folders. You can have your folder, and only you can save files in it. And you can also consider using Data Management like Vault. But the page is bookmarked and ready when the boss upgrades us to a full version of AutoCAD, I am definitely using this lisp. Thanks Edwin. If you insist, regardless of the circumstances, there is another way of effectively exploding everything in the DWG down to line segments.
Just to clarify: password protection built into DWG files when it was available was in no way any kind of protection. It was pointless considering you could easily accomplish the same thing with a password protected ZIP file. In this Article Notify of. Inline Feedbacks. Edwin Prakoso edwinp. Color is the issue and with the kit I tried to change the asigned colors to color by layer, but it had no effect. That really depends on the source of the anonymous blocks. Dynamic blocks are "anonymous" by nature when downsaved, which may be the case here.
It could also be annotative blocks, as mentioned earlier. If so "fixing" them may completely bugger them up for future use. But at this point, you may not care. Once "named" the blocks can be modified. If they are all different anonymous blocks you are completely buggered. What are the properties of these blocks? Do they open in the block editor? What is the name of the block? VLX in the Free Stuff section of the site below. It renames an anonymous block by selecting an existing insert and providing a new name.
It does require each anonymous block be selected and renamed, but what it can do to each block is great. Guess since there are not too many I'll just be exploding them. You can try with another free tool BatchInDatabase which has a command "Change to ByLayer" which changes all entities to Bylayer including nested blocks.
BatchInDatabase process the changes without opening the file, the time taken to process a file will be significantly very less, so if someone has large amount of drawings to be changed within few hours of time then this will help to achieve that.
I just found a Lisp Routine that will change the name of an unnamed block to Temp1 and you can then edit it in Block Editor. You would need to use it on each unnamed block or replace the other unnamed blocks with the Temp1 block.
